Field Trip

On May 23rd, a field trip (free of charge) will be organized. This field trip will highlight how the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) manages floodwaters across the watershed to help protect the City of London, Ontario. Participants will visit two key flood-control sites — Fanshawe Dam and the West London Dyke — to see how upstream and urban systems work together to reduce flood risk. Throughout both stops, UTRCA Education staff will demonstrate how these features are interpreted for the public, sharing how the Authority connects engineering, watershed science, and community education to build awareness and resilience in the face of changing flood patterns. Participants will also learn about flood control structures managed by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) and their importance in reducing flooding in the lower Thames valley watershed.

Space is limited. Please let us know your interest in joining the field trip.
